Energy myths - battling for better energy choices and lower prices

August 7, 2008

The phrase “drill here, drill now, pay less” has become a popular in the past few weeks. Sure, if we open up exploration now, it will take some time for the oil to actually start flowing, but just a commitment to drill here and drill now will lower the price of fuel immediately. We know this as fact.

Jim Vicevich - radio host at WTIC 1080 in Hartford - just started updating his blog again and posted a few good links. If you’re up to arguing the point with those who think windmills are the answer, Vicevich provides a link over to Investor’s Business Daily (IBD) and an editorial entitled Energy Myths. Read more

Obama says drill - but knows Sierra Club will fight

August 5, 2008

Powerline has a nice wrap-up concerning Obama’s two-faced approach to drilling for more oil and natural gas here in the States. Even though he’s now preaching that we should consider drilling offshore and open more leases in Alaska - not ANWAR - he knows that environmentalists will go to court to block every move to actually drill.

By playing both sides of the coin, he gives the impression that he cares about energy costs; and even though the oil companies can drill, they are not drilling. Squarely putting the blame back on Big Oil even though it’s not their fault.

He is not explaining why the oil companies are not drilling. Read more

Iran tests new weapon, can close Straight of Hormuz - US tests weapon, can reopen Straight - and make it wider

August 4, 2008

More posturing from the Iranian dictator-at-large. Six world powers simply asked Iran to stop enriching uranium. They won’t stop, and this is the set up to test the new president of the United States.

We might have some more rhetoric babbled from the United Nations over the next few months - with strong words that again demand that Iran stop messing with nukes - but nothing will happen until at least next spring when the new administration is in place. After all, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad knows that he’s safe; nobody has the guts to actually go forward with knocking his block off. Read more

Democrats, Obama send mixed message on energy policy

August 4, 2008

I have no idea where this ship is heading. Obama does not want to drill offshore, but is now willing to drill offshore. He did not want to tap into the strategic petroleum reserves, and now he does. Haven’t the Democrats been saying that we can’t drill out of this problem? Didn’t they say that the only way to lower prices was to build windmills?

On top of all that, now he wants to bring back the windfall profits tax on “big oil” and use the money to give out $1,000 checks to people. Is he nuts? Corporations don’t pay taxes you idiot. Read more

Your wallet - the only place Democrats want to drill

July 25, 2008

Great bumper sticker now available through the Tennessee Republican Party. It will be the second popular catch phrase coming from the increased cost of fuel and liberals refusing to drill anywhere, at anytime.

Of course, they don’t ever seem to have a problem drilling into our wallets to redistribute wealth. First we’ve got the Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less petition - almost 1.4 million have signed - and now we’ve got this cool bumper sticker. Read more
