Now Needed – Scent-Free School Zones
March 11, 2008 · Written by Steve M · · E-Mail This Post
A Minnesota Democrat has proposed a bill urging a fragrance-free educational campaign. You see, some kids are experiencing negative health issues due to boys using Axe body spray; instead of regular showers it seems. This is the nanny state in action. Populist candidates solving every little issue that comes up. Someone has to do something!
Rep. Karen Clark, a Democrat, first proposed banning fragrances in Minneapolis schools, one of the state’s largest school districts. The bill she introduced Monday scales that back to an awareness campaign in Minneapolis and in other districts that volunteer. The campaign could include letters to parents, fact sheets, signs in schools, e-mail and Web sites.
What’s next? We’ve already seen smokers banned from every establishment, and in some cases their apartments. I know someone who occasionally gets sick to her stomach when she smells beef cooking. Should should my outside barbecue activities be regulated by the government since some people in the area may feel nauseous?
Think it would never happen? Just watch the populist candidates run with it.
