California’s food police
August 25, 2008
Two weeks ago, I wrote about the Los Angeles City Council using the Jessie Jackson Shakedown Plan to force big-box retailers like Home Depot and Lowes to add buildings - with services - to their property to support “day laborers.”
Not to be outdone by Bernard Parks - the councilman who proposed office space for illegal aliens - Jan Perry, another city council member, has proposed a law to put a moratorium on new fast-food joints for the next year. No more Carl’s Jr. for you son, you’re too fat. Read more

For those of you involved in the IT field, this is really funny. Note that it is for mature audiences and probably not too safe to view at work. Language warning. Read more

Eddie Perez, mayor of Hartford, Conn., has just signed the city ordinance mentioned here and here. No replies to my e-mails, and The Hartford Courant continues to ignore the issue; comments are turned off for today’s story.
Hartford is on it’s way to becoming a sanctuary city for sure. Read more
Commuters to get state sponsored traffic information
August 18, 2008
Unbelievable waste of cash. I just turned on WVIT - the local NBC affiliate - and they reported Connecticut was planning to introduce the state-wide 511 system that I mentioned back in February. It appears that the state government - at a cost of $3 million - thinks that they can provide better traffic information then all of the radio stations, TV stations and Internet services combined.
The talking head on tube indicated that the system would be rolled out in 2010, but reminded watchers that they can already get traffic information for free from WVIT. You can even have live video sent to your phone by the station; they have more than 100 cameras to choose from. Read more
Obama and McCain answer the question - does evil exist?
August 18, 2008
On July 16, I asked someone - anyone - to ask Obama one question. Does evil exist? It took about one month, but Rick Warren - during his Faith Forum Saturday night - asked both Obama and McCain the question. It’s a valid question and one that many liberals try to weasel out of.
Of course, Obama provided a very thoughtful answer that did not answer the question. When asked the question if evil should be ignored, negotiated with, contained or defeated, Obama said we should confront it. We should confront it? What the heck does that mean? As far as I can tell, that could mean that we yell at them from across the courtyard - leave us alone!
Yeah, that will work wonders. Read more
