Google Maps: No Roads in Israel?

January 25, 2008

I’ve been reading some information concerning the fence that was destroyed between the Gaza Strip and Egypt. I wanted to look at a map for an overview.

Where are the roads in Israel? How about the West Bank or Gaza? Go ahead, zoom in, pan around. Nothing is there.

I understand that these maps are not intended to be complete - like those we have in the U.S.A. - but why roads in Lebanon, Syria and Egypt, if none are shown for Israel?

John McCain and the Open Border

January 25, 2008

Border, language, culture. Those are the three elements that define a country.

Dr. Juan Hernandez is a dual citizen (Mexico and U.S.A) and was formerly part of President Vicente Fox’s cabinet in Mexico. Let’s list off the information that has been put together concerning Dr. Hernandez.

  • Hot Air has found out that Hernandez quietly joined the McCain campaign in November 2007, and seems to be his director of Hispanic Outreach.
  • Michelle Malkin has more information on Hernandez as well, and they got together one evening when she was filling in for O’Rielly on The Factor. A video of the exchange is available on Hot Air.
  • In an interview on ABC News’s Nightline, Hernandez stated bluntly that he was betting that the Mexican American population in the United States –all generations– “will think Mexico first…”
  • Here is a link to an interview with Hernandez, posted on his own Web site, read the entire page. My emphasis added.

Hernández is emphatic. We must not only have a free flow of goods and services, but also start working for a free flow of people.

  • Finally, Rep. Tom Tancredo was interviewed on MSNBC on The Situation with Tucker Carlson. My emphasis added.

CARLSON: Well, if that‘s true and I take you at face value, I believe everything you‘re saying is accurate, how can we consider Mexico an ally if the government of Mexico, as you said, is encouraging its citizens to break American law?

TANCREDO: I had a great argument one time with a gentleman by the name of Juan Hernandez who was at that time the minister of that ministry that I just mentioned, the Ministry for Mexicans Living in the United States.

And I asked him that very question. What he told me the purpose of his ministry was to push people into the United States, it was to—by the way, it was also AFC work with them so that they did—he was with the community, he said. He was three days a week in the United States, four in Mexico.

I’ll say it again, McCain is not, and has never been a conservative. If you want a conservative in the White House, McCain is not your choice.

Where did all the Hurricane Katrina Cash Go?

January 24, 2008

Third post in a matter of hours. Sorry about this, but… what they heck is going on in New Orleans?

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CNN) — New Orleans has yet to rebuild a single fire station more than two years after Katrina destroyed or damaged 22 of the city’s 33 firehouses. Appalled by the city’s lack of action, an actor is leading the way in reconstruction of the fire stations.

Without city help, firefighters have resorted to repairing their stations along with volunteer carpenters. “I gave up on ever hoping that politicians in this country — local, state or federal — would step in to help these guys,” actor Dennis Leary told CNN.

Hundreds of billions of dollars have been handed out in this portion of the country and they can’t even get the fire stations fixed up?

Blaming Bush and FEMA is now OFF THE TABLE. Don’t even go there. Dennis Leary is making a valiant effort in this case, but he should be going after the fools who are running that dump of a city. The federal government handed the city billions and told them that the local people need to step up, come up with a solid plan and implement it. They failed, and now Leary expects Bush or FEMA to come in and fix it?

Not acceptable and a perfect example of what can happen in a liberal city, run by Democrats. I thought New Orleans was a liberal paradise?

Employee Takes “Her Shot”

January 24, 2008

Bad headline FoxNews.com. If someone quickly read the following headline, what would your first reaction be?

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I’m assuming that this Jacksonville goof ball was involved in a workplace shooting. That’s not the case at all. Here’s the full story, and an excerpt.

When Marie Lupe Cooley, 41, of Jacksonville, Fla., saw a help-wanted ad in the newspaper for a position that looked suspiciously like her current job — and with her boss’s phone number listed — she assumed she was about to be fired.

So, police say, she went to the architectural office where she works late Sunday night and erased 7 years’ worth of drawings and blueprints, estimated to be worth $2.5 million.

Now, this really sucks for the business owner. But hey, has he ever heard of off-site backups? If you had data worth $2.5 million and you did not have it backed up off-site on a very regular basis (nightly) you are a fool.

FoxNews, along with the other MSM, create these types of headlines for one reason and one reason only. Hype up the news!

Legalized Theft - by the Feds

January 24, 2008

The term economic stimulus is being tossed all over the place the last few days. Stimulating the economy can be done many ways, and the best way to do that would be to reduce the size of government, reduce the tax burden and reduce the amount of business over-regulation.

The stimulus being touted today, described recently on FoxNews.com, includes a perfect definition of legalized theft. The act of government where they take money from someone and give it to someone else. This is theft, it’s immoral.

Pelosi, D-Calif., agreed to drop increases in food stamp and unemployment benefits during a Wednesday meeting in exchange for gaining rebates of at least $300 for almost everyone earning a paycheck, including low-income earners who make too little to pay income taxes.

What? Are they kidding? People who do not pay any taxes should not be getting cash from thieves.
