Chicago Considers 500 Homicides per Year Acceptable

July 16, 2008

Can Chicago residents defend themselves? You’re welcome to run and hide, move out of the city, or just hope you don’t become a victim, but the city has basically banned handgun ownership and does not allow concealed carry permits. The state is a bit more lenient, but there is no state preemption of local laws.

Great Business Opportunity Available in D.C.

June 30, 2008

I’ve been reading a bit about the Heller decision and how things will change for the better in the District. At this point, residents who qualify should be able to purchase a pistol for home protection. Personally, I do not think that a pistol is the best choice for a home defense weapon, but it’s better than nothing.

What options do D.C. residents have now that that the city can not block them from participating in their God given right to protect themselves and their families? You would not be surprised to learn that there is no place in the District to purchase a firearm.

What a great business opportunity! If someone approached me looking for funding to build a recreational indoor range that offered a wide selection of firearms, accessories and training opportunities; I may just head to the bank and close out that savings account earning 2 percent. Read more

Wal-Mart’s New Gun Sales Policy - Value? Nothing

April 15, 2008

Wal-Mart had to do something. Michael Bloomberg, mayor of New York City is on a crusade and taking tips from Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson on how to bully corporations for political gain. That’s simply what this is about, what looks good for elitists like Bloomberg.

I understand that Bloomberg and his like want to keep criminals from getting firearms, but we all know that criminals do not walk into Wal-Mart - or any other dealer - to buy their weapon of choice legally. This is a pure publicity stunt, specifically designed to get the world’s largest retailer to give up selling firearms and ammunition. Read more

Concealed Carry Works - Obama Ignores Facts

April 3, 2008

The state of Michigan recently celebrated an anniversary. Six years ago state legislature passed, and the governor signed, a new law that effectively made Michigan a shall-issue state when it comes to right-to-carry. Those opposed to concealed carry in Michigan were distressed, convinced that additional weapons would result in more armed robberies, innocent people getting shot and an increase in the suicide rate.

So, if you were against concealed carry in Michigan six years ago and claimed the sky would fall; but crime and suicide rates went down after the law went into effect, what would you do? If you’re Barack Obama and running for president, you ignore the facts and tell people you think concealed carry is a bad idea because more innocent people could get shot during altercations. Doesn’t that feel good… Read more

Zero Tolerance at School - No Religious Art Permitted

April 1, 2008

I read an article earlier today on FoxNews.com concerning a high school student who received a failing grade on an art project because it included a Bible reference. For the project, students were asked to draw a landscape. It looks like all of the pieces were charcoal works and one of the students included a Bible reference - simply John 3:16 - in the piece.

At the beginning of the semester, students were required to sign a policy that prohibited creation of any art that included violence, blood, sexual connotations or reference religious beliefs. The students lawsuit indicates that Julie Millin, the teacher, told the student that he had signed away his Constitutional rights by signing the agreement. I hardly think a high school student can sign away Constitutional rights even if he was older than 18. Is that even legal? Can you sign away rights that are inalienable? Read more
